PWD Secures ₹150 Crore for Rural Road Expansion

The Public Works Department (PWD) of Rajasthan has been allocated ₹150 crore to develop a comprehensive rural road network spanning approximately 408 kilometres. This initiative, as outlined in the recent state Budget, aims to significantly enhance connectivity in rural areas, thereby stimulating economic growth and improving access to essential services.

The approved funds will support road construction in six specific assembly constituencies: Khinwsar, Deoli-Uniara, Jhunjhunu, Chaurasi, Malpura, and Tonk. According to PWD Minister Diya Kumari, the enhanced road infrastructure will not only facilitate better market access for farmers but also improve their connectivity to government welfare services such as healthcare and education. This infrastructure development is expected to bolster the rural economy by enabling farmers to transport their produce to larger markets and obtain better prices.

In addition to the rural road network, the PWD has received a separate approval of ₹2 crore for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to upgrade the 62-kilometre stretch from Mandal Bhilwara to Devgarh in Rajsamand into a four-lane road. Further projects include preparing DPRs for the Ramganjmandi Ring Road and a semi-circular ring road in Pratapgarh, as well as converting various routes, such as Kotda to Devla and Bharatpur-Alwar, into four-lane roads. The department will also focus on constructing and widening key roads like the Kota-Kaithun-Dharnaoda road, which will connect to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, and the Bapawar-Sangod-Kaithun bypass.

This comprehensive road development plan underscores the state’s commitment to enhancing rural infrastructure and connectivity, which is expected to drive economic development and improve the quality of life for residents in these areas.
