Pune Vadgaon Sheri Water Struggles Get Urgent Deadline

The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly has set a firm deadline for resolving water supply issues in Pune’s Vadgaon Sheri constituency. With rapid urbanisation and increasing infrastructural demands, the area has been grappling with irregular water distribution, affecting thousands of residents. In response to growing concerns, the authorities have been directed to ensure a streamlined and consistent supply of water by March 23.

The meeting, chaired by a senior legislative official, brought together key stakeholders, including Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) representatives, state officials, and law enforcement authorities. A local legislative representative raised pressing issues surrounding the constituency’s infrastructure, highlighting the dire need to expedite pending projects such as roadways, flyovers, the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRT), underground passages, and bridges.

Among the critical demands was the urgent completion of the long-delayed Kharadi-Shivane road, along with the construction of a crucial flyover linking Viman Nagar and Kharadi, intended to ease congestion on the Pune-Nagar Road. Additionally, unfinished BRT lanes on Pune-Nagar Highway and Alandi Road, along with underground crossings at Viman Nagar Square and Kharadi-Hadapsar Bypass, were brought to the forefront. The discussion also emphasised the importance of a new bridge across the Mula-Mutha River, set to enhance connectivity between Viman Nagar, Vadgaon Sheri, Mundhwa, Pingale Wasti, and Hadapsar.

Traffic congestion remains a persistent challenge, exacerbated by incomplete land acquisitions for various projects. The need for efficient road linkages between Kalwad, Dhanori, and Lohgaon was also highlighted as a crucial component of urban planning. Authorities acknowledged these concerns and assured swift action, with directives issued to expedite development works.

Given the constituency’s booming population and rapid commercial expansion, infrastructural deficits have put significant pressure on essential services. Ensuring uninterrupted water supply remains a top priority, and the upcoming deadline aims to alleviate public grievances. Officials expressed confidence in resolving the matter within the stipulated timeframe, as efforts intensify to address long-standing urban challenges.
