The Central Railway’s Pune Division has announced a revision in the arrival and departure timings of select trains at Pune Railway Station, effective from June 2025.
This adjustment aims to address longstanding issues of delays and platform congestion, ensuring a smoother travel experience for the thousands of daily commuters and long-distance travellers who rely on this crucial transit hub. Pune Railway Station, one of the busiest in western India, handles over 200 trains and more than 100,000 passengers daily. Over the years, increased train traffic, overlapping schedules, and infrastructure constraints have led to frequent delays and overcrowding on platforms. The revised timetable is a proactive step by Indian Railways to enhance punctuality, passenger convenience, and operational efficiency.
The adjustments include minor changes in arrival and departure times for both terminating and originating trains. For instance, the arrival time of Train No. 12127 CSMT–Pune Express has been revised from 9:57 AM to 10:00 AM, effective June 1, 2025. Similarly, the departure times for trains such as the Pune–CSMT Pragati Express and Pune–CSMT Intercity Express have been advanced by five minutes to facilitate better platform management and reduce turnaround times. These changes, though seemingly minor, are expected to have a significant impact on the overall efficiency of train operations at Pune Station. By staggering train movements and reducing bottlenecks, the revised schedule aims to minimize delays and improve the reliability of services. This is particularly important for long-distance trains, where even slight delays can cascade into significant disruptions across the network.
Passengers are advised to check the updated timings on the official Indian Railways website, mobile apps, or at railway enquiry counters before commencing their journeys. Staying informed about these changes will help travellers plan their trips more effectively and avoid any inconvenience. The revision of train timings at Pune Railway Station reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to continuous improvement and responsiveness to passenger needs. As the new schedule comes into effect, Pune’s rail travellers can look forward to a more reliable and comfortable journey, reinforcing the city’s status as a key node in India’s railway network.
