Pune railway station has continued to be a hotspot for alarm chain pulling incidents, causing frequent disruptions to train services and inconveniencing passengers. The RPF data reveals a concerning trend of increasing cases, raising questions about the safety and efficiency of train operations in the city.
Pune railway station has once again earned the dubious distinction of being the top offender in the alarming trend of alarm chain pulling incidents within the Central Railway’s Pune division. This year, the station has recorded a staggering 400 instances of passengers deliberately activating the emergency brake, causing significant disruptions to train services and inconveniencing thousands of commuters. The problem is not new. Last year, Pune railway station also held the unfortunate title, with approximately 570 cases reported during the same period. The neighboring stations of Chinchwad and Loni also faced similar issues, with around 170 and 160 cases, respectively.
The recent data from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) paints a concerning picture. While Ahmednagar and Daund, which were recently included in the Pune division, have also seen a rise in alarm chain pulling incidents, Pune’s persistent dominance in this category is a cause for concern. The station’s high volume of passenger traffic may contribute to the problem, but it does not excuse the irresponsible behavior of those who continue to abuse the emergency brake.
