Pune PMC Approves Major Infrastructure and Healthcare Projects

Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is gearing up for a significant healthcare infrastructure boost with the development of a super specialty hospital in the Naini area. The project, with an estimated budget of ₹65.98 crore, is set to introduce state-of-the-art medical facilities to the city, promising to enhance both healthcare delivery and PMC’s revenue generation.

The hospital’s detailed project report (DPR) has been finalised and the initiative underscores the PMC’s commitment to expanding its healthcare services. This new facility is expected to cater to a wide range of specialised medical needs, potentially transforming healthcare access for local residents. In tandem with this major project, PMC has also addressed a long-standing issue concerning property tax arrears. Over 7,000 homeowners who paid arrears for increased water and sewer taxes for the financial years 2022-23 and 2023-24 are now receiving significant relief. The PMC has decided to offset these arrears against their property tax bills for the 2025-26 financial year. This decision follows the scrapping of a previous plan, announced in a recent executive meeting, to implement these charges starting from the current fiscal year. Additionally, the PMC has extended a 10% discount on house tax for the current financial year until October 31, an extension from the previous deadline of August 30. This move aims to provide further financial relief to homeowners affected by the tax hike.
