Pune is set to witness a significant boost in connectivity with the proposed Nashik Industrial Expressway. This ambitious project aims to drastically cut travel time between Pune and Nashik from five hours to just three. Expected to cost twenty eight thousand four hundred twenty nine crore rupees, the expressway will link Pune Ahilyanagar and Nashik districts. The proposal for this vital infrastructure development will soon be submitted for final government approval by state authorities, promising enhanced regional economic activity.
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation MSRDC has completed the detailed project report and feasibility study for this one hundred thirty three kilometer long expressway. The government had previously approved the final design in February last year, paving the way for the current submission to the cabinet. Once cabinet approval is secured, construction work on this crucial highway is anticipated to be completed within three years. The project requires the acquisition of one thousand five hundred forty five hectares of land, with plans for the route to pass through Khed Shirur Ambegaon and Junnar talukas in Pune district and Sangamner taluka in Ahilyanagar district.

This industrial expressway will feature twelve large flyovers constructed over rivers and streams. Additionally, interchanges will be strategically located at nine points including Chimbli Chakan and Pabal in Pune district as well as Ahilyanagar Rajuri Khandarmal Machi and Kasare in Nashik district. These interchanges will facilitate smooth entry and exit from the expressway. Furthermore, the new highway will connect to the Surat Chennai highway, offering extended benefits to motorists from other states. While a semi high speed rail project faces delays, the industrial expressway is progressing with momentum and is expected to significantly boost economic business and trade in the connected regions.
This expressway is poised to transform regional travel and commerce, fostering economic growth across key cities. Reducing journey times will enhance logistical efficiency and improve connectivity for industries and commuters alike. This strategic infrastructure development represents a significant investment in Maharashtra’s future, promising substantial long term benefits for the local economy.
