Pune Metro’s Line-2 Enters Operational Phase with Ruby Hall-Ramwadi Stretch Launch

In a significant development for Pune’s urban transit landscape, the Pune Metro Line-2 is set to commence passenger services on the Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi stretch from March 6, marking a crucial milestone in the city’s expanding metro network.

The 5.5-kilometre stretch from Ruby Hall to Ramwadi will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing on March 6 at 11:30 am, originating from Kolkata. Atul Gadgil, Director (Works) of Pune Metro, highlighted the significance of this inauguration, stating, “After the formal inauguration, two metro trains will commence operations between Ruby Hall and Ramwadi, and vice versa. The ceremony will take place at the Ruby Hall metro station.” Executive Director Hemant Sonwane added that passenger services would initiate approximately two hours post-inauguration, starting around 1 pm. With this launch, Pune Metro’s Line-2 completes its 15.7-kilometre journey from Vanaz to Ramwadi, significantly enhancing intra-city connectivity. The extension of the metro network holds promise for streamlining daily commutes and reducing traffic congestion in key areas of Pune.

Simultaneously, on the same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the extension of Pune Metro Line-1 from Swargate to Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Nigdi. The ceremony for this extended route will be held at the PCMC metro station, further underscoring the Government’s commitment to bolstering public transportation infrastructure in Pune.

As Pune Metro continues to evolve, these strategic inaugurations signify a leap forward in fulfilling the city’s increasing demand for efficient and sustainable public transportation options. The Line-2 operationalisation is expected to ease travel between Ruby Hall and Ramwadi, addressing the evolving needs of Pune’s urban populace.
