Pune, India – The bustling streets of Shivaji Nagar in Pune are set for a transformative shift in traffic dynamics, heralding a new phase of urban development amidst ongoing construction activities for the Pune Metro project.
Commencing on May 4, significant modifications to traffic routes and regulations are poised to alleviate long-standing congestion issues and streamline transportation efficiency in the city. The upcoming modifications, primarily centred around girder lathing work near Simla Office Chowk, are part of a concerted effort to optimise traffic flow and enhance the overall commuting experience for Pune’s residents. As the city gears up for these changes, commuters are urged to plan their routes meticulously and adhere to revised traffic regulations to minimise inconvenience.
Key alterations to existing traffic patterns include the conversion of the route from Veer Chafekar Chowk to N.T.Wadi K.B. Joshi Marg Chowk into a one-way street, aimed at optimising traffic flow along this crucial thoroughfare. Additionally, several road entries and access points will be temporarily closed to facilitate construction activities and ensure the safety of commuters and workers alike. Notable closures include the road entry from Veer Chafekar Flyover to Shimla Office Chowk, the road connecting Veer Chafekar Chowk to Simla Office Chowk via Fergusson College Road, and the entrance from Nata Wadi Chowk to Chafekar Chowk, among others. To mitigate parking congestion, designated no-parking zones will be enforced along Veer Chafekar Chowk to N.T.Wadi Chowk to Shimla Office Road, ensuring smoother traffic flow and safer pedestrian access in the vicinity.
