Pune Metro has taken another step towards strengthening its operational efficiency by awarding a crucial train operation and station control contract to Colossus Infra Projects. The ₹13.1 crore agreement, finalised this week, entrusts the company with the responsibility of managing day-to-day metro services for one year, marking an important milestone in the system’s transition towards smoother commuter services.
Officials confirmed that Maha-Metro had floated tenders for this contract with a deadline of 365 days. After a rigorous two-stage process, including technical and financial evaluations, Colossus Infra Projects emerged as the lowest and successful bidder. The firm has now received the official Letter of Acceptance (LoA), enabling the start of service responsibilities in coordination with Pune Metro’s existing operations team. According to project insiders, the scope of work includes complete train operation along both operational corridors, overseeing station control rooms, and ensuring passenger safety and system reliability across the network. The contract is designed not only to streamline daily functioning but also to build operational resilience as Pune Metro continues to expand ridership.
Pune Metro currently serves thousands of commuters each day across its partially operational network, offering a sustainable and efficient alternative to conventional road-based transport. The introduction of a specialised contractor for operations is expected to improve punctuality, reduce system downtimes, and enhance the passenger experience.
