Pune Hadapsar Station Non Interlocking Work Completed For Satellite Terminal

Pune Division, Central Railway, has successfully completed critical Non-Interlocking (NI) work at Hadapsar station as part of its major yard remodeling for a new Satellite Terminal. This achievement marks a significant milestone in infrastructure augmentation, completed ahead of schedule in 16 hours and 30 minutes. The project aims to enhance operational efficiency and passenger handling capacity, reflecting excellent planning and execution by all involved departments.

As part of this extensive development, Hadapsar Yard underwent major reconfiguration, including extensive yard remodeling and the commissioning of Electronic Interlocking (EI). Engineering works also involved the launching of 11 girders for a new 12-meter-wide Foot Over Bridge, alongside realignment and modification of tracks to prepare for future handling of long-haul and terminating trains. This complex undertaking required the deployment of 210 laborers, specialized welding and blacksmith teams, and heavy machinery such as JCBs, Poclain machines, Hydras, Dumpers, and 500T cranes, ensuring safe and timely completion. The Signaling & Telecommunication Department played a pivotal role by commissioning the Kyosan Electronic Interlocking K5D system, configuring 88 routes for enhanced safety, reliability, and route flexibility.

This advanced system includes dual VDU in hot standby mode, 20 points with cross protection, and conforms to RDSO’s latest cyber security standards. Furthermore, the TRD (Electrical Department) executed comprehensive traction infrastructure improvements, extending Overhead Equipment (OHE) to three platform lines and commissioning new stabling lines. These upgrades provide two additional loop lines with extended capacities, enabling significant decongestion of Pune Junction. To minimize passenger inconvenience during the block, Train No. 12130 Howrah–Pune Azad Hind Express was short-terminated at Loni, with PMPML buses arranged to ferry passengers to Pune Railway Station.

The successful and early completion of this crucial NI block represents a key advancement in Pune Division’s journey towards expanding passenger handling capacity. It powerfully demonstrates Central Railway’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure excellence, ensuring enhanced safety and improved service reliability for the growing demands of the region’s rail network.
