Pune Gas, a prominent player in the commercial and industrial gas sector, has inaugurated North India’s first dedicated Smart Gas Experience Centre in Okhla. This pivotal launch, the company’s first owned facility and seventh overall, marks a significant stride in its national expansion strategy, aiming to deliver innovative and sustainable gas solutions closer to North India’s burgeoning hospitality, food service, and industrial sectors. The centre’s establishment underscores a growing imperative to transition Indian businesses towards cleaner, more efficient energy sources, directly contributing to the nation’s ambitious goals of fostering zero net carbon, eco-friendly, and equitable urban environments.
This strategic footprint in Delhi is designed to serve a vast and critical market encompassing Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The Experience Centre is poised to be a comprehensive resource, facilitating the execution of complex projects and delivering bespoke energy solutions. From advanced vaporizer systems to essential gas components, it offers an end-to-end suite of services, empowering businesses to make informed decisions through expert consultations and immersive live demonstrations. This knowledge transfer is crucial for accelerating the adoption of modern gas technologies across varied industrial and commercial applications.
The imperative for such a transition is underscored by current energy consumption patterns. In the fiscal year 2022-23, India consumed over 30,916 thousand metric tonnes of LPG, with merely 16% attributed to industrial and commercial usage. A substantial majority of users within these vital sectors still rely on highly polluting fuels such as diesel, furnace oil, kerosene, and even traditional biomass like wood. North India alone accounts for over 7.12 lakh industrial and commercial LPG users, many of whom contend with operational inefficiencies like LPG cylinder freezing, which leads to a daily loss of 3-4 kg of gas per cylinder, incurring both economic and environmental costs.
The solutions showcased at the Delhi Experience Centre are engineered to address these challenges head-on. A key innovation is LPGenius, touted as the world’s first Smart LPG System. This ‘Made in India’ solution effectively tackles issues like cylinder freezing and sweating by utilising Liquid Off-Take (LOT) 47.5 kg cylinders, which are significantly more efficient than conventional 19 kg cylinders. Its deployment promises 20-30% savings on LPG costs, making it an economically compelling choice as environmental regulations tighten, particularly in regions battling declining air quality like the Delhi National Capital Region. The direct reduction in fossil fuel consumption supports local efforts for cleaner urban air.
Another significant offering is FuelFusion, a pioneering dual-fuel system designed to seamlessly convert conventional diesel generators to operate on a blend of diesel and LPG. This technology drastically cuts diesel consumption without requiring expensive retrofitting, offering a practical pathway for businesses to lower their carbon footprint. FuelFusion directly aligns with global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and Goal 13 (Climate Action), by significantly reducing emissions and promoting a cleaner energy mix. Such innovations are vital for mitigating climate change impacts and building resilient urban infrastructure.
Leadership at Pune Gas views this expansion as pivotal for the nation’s energy future. Jaisinh Sampat, Founder & Managing Director, highlighted Delhi’s strategic importance as an industrial and commercial hub, emphasising the company’s mission to empower businesses with smart, clean energy solutions. He noted that their existing solutions already deliver annual savings of nearly ₹1,400 crores by eliminating fuel inefficiencies, a figure expected to grow substantially with their deepened regional footprint. Jesal Sampat, Executive Director, added that the Experience Centres are crucial for bridging the knowledge gap, making advanced systems accessible to businesses of all scales, from small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to large industrial players.
As energy costs continue to fluctuate and sustainability mandates become increasingly stringent, the shift towards smarter, cleaner energy alternatives is not merely an option but an economic and environmental imperative. This proactive expansion by Pune Gas reflects a commitment to empowering Indian businesses with the tools needed for an efficient and sustainable future. By fostering the adoption of cleaner energy solutions, this initiative contributes broadly to creating healthier, more equitable urban environments where improved air quality and responsible resource management become the norm for all residents.
