Pune is set to further its commitment to sustainable urban mobility with the inauguration of two new electric bus depots in Charholi and Maan on April 25, 2025.
This expansion is part of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML)’s ongoing efforts to modernize the city’s public transport infrastructure and reduce its carbon footprint.The Charholi depot will manage a fleet of 60 electric buses, serving areas such as Alandi, Vishrantwadi, Lohgaon, Wagholi, and the airport zone. This strategic location aims to enhance connectivity for residents in the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) area. The Maan depot, with 32 electric buses, will cater to the burgeoning IT corridor, providing efficient commuting options for tech professionals and nearby communities.
These depots are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including charging stations and maintenance workshops, to ensure the smooth operation of the electric bus fleet.

The introduction of live bus tracking and digital stop announcements via the PMPML mobile app will further enhance the commuter experience, offering real-time information and improved convenience.The expansion aligns with the broader goal of reducing traffic congestion, lowering emissions, and promoting eco-friendly transportation solutions.By increasing the availability of electric buses in suburban areas, PMPML aims to encourage more residents to opt for public transport, thereby contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable urban environment.
