Pune Division of Indian Railways is set to enhance passenger convenience during the upcoming festive season by operating a special express train between Hadapsar in Pune and Rewa. The initiative comes as part of preparations for the Diwali and Chhath Puja rush, addressing the increased demand for rail travel across long-distance routes. This special service reflects efforts by railway authorities to manage seasonal passenger volumes while ensuring operational efficiency and commuter comfort.
The special train, operating on a “Train on Demand” (TOD) basis, is designated as Train No. 01752. It will depart from Hadapsar at 06:40 hrs on Monday, October 27, 2025, and arrive at Rewa the following day at 06:25 hrs. Designed to cater to diverse passenger preferences, the train comprises 24 ICF coaches, including one First AC cum AC 2-Tier coach, one AC 2-Tier, four AC 3-Tier, twelve Sleeper Class, four General Second Class, and two Luggage cum Guard’s Brake Vans. Railway officials highlight that the train’s halts include major stations such as Satna, Maihar, Katni, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Pipariya, Itarsi, Harda, Khandwa, Bhusaval, Manmad, Kopargaon, Belapur, Ahmednagar, and Daund Chord Line, ensuring connectivity across key regions en route. The route aims to provide both efficiency and convenience, accommodating passengers travelling for family reunions, religious observances, and leisure during the festive period.
Bookings for the special train will commence on September 29, 2025. Passengers can reserve tickets through all Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters and the official IRCTC website at www.irctc.co.in. General Second Class unreserved coaches are available through the UTS mobile app and UTS counters at railway stations, providing flexibility for commuters who require last-minute travel options. Experts note that initiatives such as this are crucial for sustainable urban and regional mobility during peak demand periods. By optimising train composition and route halts, the Pune Division demonstrates a focus on operational efficiency while supporting equitable travel access across socio-economic groups. Officials stress that careful monitoring of occupancy, passenger amenities, and service quality will be essential to maintain commuter satisfaction throughout the festive season.
