Pune‑Headquartered Suzlon Secures 381 MW Wind Energy Order From Zelestra

Pune, Suzlon Group, a leading wind solutions provider, has secured a significant 381 MW wind energy order from Zelestra India and its affiliates, marking a pivotal moment in Zelestra’s clean energy transition. This strategic collaboration underscores a growing industry shift towards reliable and sustainable power solutions, propelling India closer to its zero-net-carbon goals and fostering eco-friendly, energy-secure urban and industrial landscapes across multiple states.

The substantial 381 MW project will deploy 127 of Suzlon’s advanced S144 turbines, strategically spread across Maharashtra (180 MW), Madhya Pradesh (180 MW), and Tamil Nadu (21 MW). This multi-state deployment highlights the diverse application of wind energy, with portions of the project contributing to SJVN’s Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) bids in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, while the Tamil Nadu component will directly serve Commercial & Industrial (C&I) power consumers, demonstrating the versatility and market relevance of renewable solutions.

Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, emphasised that India’s energy transition is at a critical juncture, with a clear focus on achieving reliable, round-the-clock renewable power. This project exemplifies that crucial shift, demonstrating how large-scale wind energy initiatives are becoming central to meeting the nation’s burgeoning energy demands sustainably. Suzlon’s comprehensive capabilities, spanning cutting-edge turbine technology to 25 years of lifecycle support, are instrumental in empowering both corporate and utility players to achieve their decarbonisation targets with scale and speed.

The partnership with Zelestra, a global pioneer in decarbonisation, signals a strong industry confidence in Suzlon’s integrated solutions, from in-house technology and manufacturing to execution and long-term lifecycle services. This holistic approach ensures not only the efficient delivery of projects but also long-term value creation and enhanced energy security for customers. Such collaborations are vital for accelerating the deployment of clean energy infrastructure, which is fundamental to reducing reliance on fossil fuels and mitigating climate change impacts.

This significant wind energy order directly contributes to the vision of creating sustainable and equitable cities. By adding substantial renewable capacity to the grid, it reduces greenhouse gas emissions, improves air quality, and diversifies the energy mix, making power supply more resilient and environmentally responsible. The development of such large-scale green projects also generates employment opportunities and fosters economic growth in the regions where they are situated, ensuring that the benefits of the energy transition are shared broadly across society.
