The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) will soon commence land acquisition for the proposed 82 km inner ring road’s first phase. Nearly 19.08 hectares will be acquired from three villages — Nirgudi, Solu and Wadgaon Shinde — to construct the first stretch of 4.8 km from Solu to Wadgaon Shinde.
The work of the proposed inner ring road will be carried out phase-wise, and PMRDA has sent a proposal to the district administration to commence land acquisition. As a result, a total of 589.02 hectares will be acquired.
PMRDA focuses on 37 km of the stretch in the first phase to resolve the city’s traffic problems. The three stretches — Nagar Road to Mumbai Expressway, Nagar Road to Solapur Road, and Solapur Road to Satara Road — will be completed in the next three to four years.
For the first 4.8 km stretch, the total land acquired will be 34 hectares, of which 7 hectares is government land. The Nagar Road to Solapur stretch is 11 km, which will require land acquisition of 78 hectares, including 5 hectares of government land.
For the 21.23 km Solapur-Satara Road stretch, the total land acquired will be 152 hectares, of which 4 hectares is government land. The outer and inner ring roads are being constructed by MSRDC and PMRDA, respectively.
