PMRDA Enhances Emergency Systems for Heavy Rainfall in Pune

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has significantly upgraded its emergency response infrastructure.

This enhancement aims to address the challenges posed by heavy rainfall and other potential disasters in the region. PMRDA’s Emergency Department is now equipped with advanced systems designed to effectively manage emergencies arising from adverse weather conditions and other disaster situations. The department has been allocated ₹5 crore by the state government to procure state-of-the-art equipment and resources. Additionally, a dedicated fleet of disaster response vehicles has been integrated into the system to ensure swift and coordinated action during emergencies.

Deepak Singla, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner of PMRDA, has emphasized the importance of meticulous planning and coordination among various departments to provide timely assistance during disaster events. He has directed all concerned officials to maintain constant communication and ensure that emergency aid reaches affected individuals promptly. The Meteorological Department has issued intermittent updates about the monsoon, including warnings of heavy rainfall in certain areas. In response, PMRDA has activated its advanced emergency infrastructure and is on high alert to manage any potential emergencies effectively.

Citizens are strongly advised to refrain from stepping out during such emergencies and to avoid venturing into hazardous areas. PMRDA urges the public to stay informed through official advisories and to cooperate with authorities to ensure safety during adverse weather conditions. This initiative aligns with Pune’s broader efforts to enhance urban resilience and ensure the safety and well-being of its residents. By investing in advanced emergency systems and fostering inter-departmental coordination, PMRDA aims to mitigate the impact of disasters and provide effective response during critical situations.
