PMDA Gears Up with Rs 100 Crore Budget for Urban Facelift

The development aimed at bolstering urban infrastructure and development initiatives, the Haryana Chief Minister has greenlit a substantial budget of Rs 100 crore for the Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority (PMDA). This decision underscores the state government’s commitment to accelerating urban growth and enhancing civic amenities within the region.

During a pivotal review meeting of the PMDA, the Chief Minister emphasized the urgent need to expedite the transfer of properties from the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to the PMDA. This transfer is expected to streamline administrative processes and facilitate swift execution of development projects, including the division of roads, establishment of parks, enhancement of sewerage systems, rainwater drainage, and provision of potable water across sectors and extended areas of Panchkula.

The approved budget allocation of Rs 100 crore for PMDA aligns with the government’s broader strategy to empower metropolitan authorities with adequate financial resources for sustainable urban planning and infrastructure development. The funds are earmarked for various critical initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for residents and bolstering Panchkula’s urban landscape. Highlighting the scope of upcoming projects, the Chief Minister disclosed that PMDA has outlined major developmental ventures amounting to Rs 156.58 crore for the fiscal year 2024-2025. Among these projects, a notable Rs 13.75 crore has been allocated for the establishment of a world-class shooting range in Sector 32, underscoring the authority’s commitment to fostering sports infrastructure alongside essential urban amenities.

The strategic allocation of funds comes at a pivotal juncture as PMDA gears up to address longstanding infrastructural gaps and meet the burgeoning demands of Panchkula’s expanding urban populace. The comprehensive approach envisages collaborative efforts between PMDA, urban local bodies, and relevant stakeholders to ensure efficient project implementation and sustainable growth across the metropolitan area.Officials have been tasked with providing detailed reports on villages integrated into municipal corporations and the corresponding financial transfers.
