The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) is poised to make significant changes to the city’s infrastructure and green spaces. In its upcoming 11th ordinary meeting, the Empowered Standing Committee will deliberate on a series of key decisions aimed at enhancing the urban environment.
These include renaming various roads and increasing the city’s green cover through extensive tree planting efforts across all 75 wards. Ward 48 councillor Indradeep Chandravanshi, a member of the committee, announced several road renaming proposals. Notable changes include naming the stretch from Rajendra Nagar McDowell roundabout to Vaishali roundabout after Padmashri Dr Shailendra Nath Shrivastava. Other roads set for renaming are Loha Godam Path in Ward 53, which will be renamed in honour of late Dhananjay Mehta, and Nuruddin Mohalla in Ward 70, which will be renamed Shiv Ganganagar. Additionally, the road from Chiraiyatand fuel station to the East Central Railway office in Ward 35 will be known as Asha Devi Path.
The meeting will also address beautification projects, including the installation of paver blocks at the ISKCON temple entrance and maintenance work at Baikunth Dham, Gulbi Ghat. Moreover, the committee plans to install new signages at the Income Tax roundabout and in front of Shri Krishna Nagar Children’s Park. Administrative approval will be sought for constructing a new crematory at Nand Gola ghat, with an estimated budget of Rs 1.09 crore. The committee is also expected to approve the construction of new community and public toilets, alongside the installation of high-yield water pumps in several wards. Additionally, the procurement of 175 tablet devices is planned to facilitate tax assessments and other official duties. These initiatives reflect PMC’s commitment to improving urban infrastructure and quality of life in Patna, aiming to address long-standing civic issues while fostering a greener and more efficient city environment
