Pune residents will experience a temporary disruption to their water supply on Thursday, April 3, as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) undertakes essential maintenance work at several pumping stations and water treatment plants across the city.
The 24-hour water supply cut is expected to impact many key areas, urging citizens to take preventive steps in advance. The PMC’s water supply department will be conducting critical electrical, structural, and pumping repairs at a range of facilities, including the Parvati Water Treatment Plants, both old and new, as well as several other water centres and pumping stations. These include the Bhama Askhed, Holkar Water Centre, Vadgaon Water Centre, Rajiv Gandhi Pumping Station, Warje Water Centre, among other connected tank facilities. The affected regions will include some of Pune’s most prominent localities, including Peth, Bibvewadi, Mukundnagar, Sahakarnagar, Padmavati, Ganagdham, and Deccan. Other areas such as Chintamaninagar, Shivajinagar, Swargate, Katraj, and Viman Nagar, along with many residential zones like Hadapsar, Mundhwa, and Koregaon Park, will also be impacted. Local communities have been urged to store enough water in advance to avoid the inconvenience caused by the disruption.
The ongoing work at the water pumping stations will particularly affect major facilities such as the Old and New Parvati Water Works, Wadgaon Water Works, Holkar Water Works, and several other pumping stations. PMC officials have assured that the water supply should be restored by Friday, April 4, although residents may experience delays or low water pressure.
