PM Modi’s Gati Shakti to Reduce Logistics Costs Further

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Gati Shakti National Master Plan would integrate economic and infrastructural planning with development to reduce logistics costs further in India. The plan aims to change the face of India’s infrastructure and multimodal logistics, which will positively impact the country’s domestic production. The Prime Minister also invited the private sectors to contribute to the logistic sector, and he emphasised that this year’s budget will give new energy to infrastructure, with a target investment of INR 110 lakh crore under the National Infrastructure Pipeline.

Modi highlighted the progress in infrastructure development and said that the average construction of national highways has nearly doubled compared to before 2014. Additionally, before 2014, only 600-route-km of railway track was electrified yearly, which has now increased to 4,000 km per year. The number of airports and seaport capacity has also doubled. The PM expressed confidence that the Gati Shakti plan would contribute to India’s target of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

The Gati Shakti National Master Plan is a critical tool for infrastructure development and will reduce logistics costs in future. The integration of economic and infrastructural planning is expected to improve the ease of living and ease of doing business in India.
