Patna Launches Non‑AC Amrit Bharat Express to Delhi, Cutting Travel to Ten Hours

Patna is set to usher in a new era of rail connectivity with the imminent launch of the Amrit Bharat Express, linking the city directly to Delhi. This state-of-the-art, non-AC train promises to drastically cut travel time to just 10 hours, revolutionising inter-city commutes. The modern service, equipped with advanced amenities, underscores a national commitment to enhancing affordable and efficient public transportation infrastructure for millions.

The introduction of the Amrit Bharat Express, distinguished by its vibrant red and grey livery and comprising 22 technologically prepared coaches, signifies a strategic advancement in Indian Railways’ offerings. Designed to cater to a broad spectrum of travellers, the train features both Sleeper and General class bogies, accommodating 80 and 100 passengers respectively. Despite being non-air-conditioned, these coaches are equipped with a suite of contemporary facilities, mirroring the convenience found in premium services.

Each coach has been meticulously designed to enhance passenger comfort and safety. Seats, presented in a modern orange and grey palette, offer dedicated charging points, mobile holders, and bottle holders, ensuring a comfortable journey for all. Furthermore, the train integrates advanced safety and information systems, including comprehensive CCTV coverage near gates and seating areas, alongside speakers and display boards providing real-time station information. The inclusion of modernised bathroom facilities further elevates the travel experience.

Operating at an impressive speed of approximately 130 kilometres per hour, the Amrit Bharat Express is engineered to complete the nearly 1,000-kilometre journey between Patna and Delhi in a mere 10 hours. This significant reduction in travel duration not only offers considerable time savings for passengers but also promises a more comfortable and less arduous journey. The estimated sleeper fare of around ₹1,065 positions this service as an accessible and economical option for long-distance travel.

The train’s route incorporates strategic stoppages at approximately 12 major stations, including key hubs such as Ara, Buxar, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Kanpur Central, and Etawah. These planned halts ensure widespread accessibility, benefiting a larger cross-section of the population across multiple states. This extensive network coverage is crucial for fostering regional economic integration and facilitating easier movement for business, education, and social purposes.

The launch of the Amrit Bharat Express underscores a commitment to developing sustainable and equitable urban and regional transport solutions. By providing a modern, efficient, and affordable rail option, the service promotes a shift away from more carbon-intensive modes of transport, contributing to environmental sustainability. Moreover, improved connectivity benefits all citizens, fostering gender-neutral access to opportunities and enhancing the overall quality of life in connected cities.
