Odisha is charting an ambitious course to reclaim its historical maritime prominence, unveiling a comprehensive strategy aimed at transforming its 574.7 km coastline into a dynamic economic corridor.
This initiative seeks to revitalise the state’s ancient seafaring legacy while aligning with contemporary goals of sustainable development and economic growth. Central to this vision is the Odisha Port Policy 2022, which introduces the BOOST (Build, Own, Operate, Share, and Transfer) model to attract private investment in greenfield port projects. This model is designed to facilitate long-term partnerships, ensuring that new ports are developed with a focus on efficiency, sustainability, and community engagement .
The state has identified several strategic locations for port development, including Astaranga and Subarnarekha, which are currently under construction.
