O2 Power Signs PPA to Supply 100 MW Renewable Energy to East Central Railways

Renewable energy platform O2 Power has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with East Central Railways (ECR) to supply 100 MW of clean electricity. This electricity will be sourced from O2 Power’s 360 MW installed capacity across Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Karnataka. The agreement is a significant step toward supporting Indian Railways’ decarbonisation efforts and contributing to India’s broader mission of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.

As part of the agreement, O2 Power will provide renewable energy to ECR’s operations, helping to reduce the railways’ carbon footprint and boost energy sustainability. The power supplied will be part of a round-the-clock (RTC) clean energy supply, enhancing the environmental credentials of the railway division.

Parag Sharma, Founder and CEO of O2 Power, expressed pride in the partnership, highlighting its role in advancing Indian Railways’ green energy goals. He stated that the PPA is crucial in enabling Indian Railways to transition to greener energy alternatives. O2 Power, established in 2020 by Temasek and EQT Infrastructure, has a growing portfolio of renewable energy projects across India, totaling more than 6GW of solar and wind power. The company focuses on developing, constructing, and operating sustainable energy solutions to meet India’s increasing demand for clean, reliable, and cost-effective electricity. This partnership with East Central Railways marks a notable achievement for both O2 Power and the Indian Railways, reinforcing their shared commitment to environmental sustainability and carbon reduction.
