In a strategic move toward sustainable energy initiatives, NTPC, a leading player in the power sector, has formalized a significant land lease agreement for the establishment of an expansive “Integrated Green Hydrogen Hub.” Covering a sprawling 1,200-acre plot in Pudimadaka village, near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, the Ministry of Power disclosed this groundbreaking development on Wednesday.
The accord, inked between NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) on February 20, lays the foundation for the creation of India’s largest green hydrogen production facility. Set to produce an impressive 1,200 tons per day, this facility will serve as a pivotal node for the conversion of green hydrogen into valuable derivatives such as green ammonia and green methanol, predominantly earmarked for diverse international markets.
The ambitious Pudimadaka Green Hydrogen Hub aspires to foster an all-encompassing ecosystem conducive to cutting-edge technologies in the evolving energy landscape. This includes the establishment of facilities for electrolyzer and fuel cell manufacturing, ancillary industries, and startup incubation. Furthermore, the hub aims to provide comprehensive testing facilities and facilitate the production and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives.

The land lease agreement, ceremoniously exchanged between Chief General Manager of NGEL, Sivakumar V. V., and Vice-Chairman & Managing Director of APIIC, Pravin Kumar, at the Andhra Pradesh government’s secretariat in Amravati, underscores the commitment of both entities to spearheading the nation’s transition towards sustainable and eco-friendly energy solutions.
