Northern Railway has issued an advisory regarding a scheduled traffic block on the Gorakhpur Cantt.-Bhatni section due to the commissioning of automatic signalling. The maintenance work, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and safety, will take place from November 18 to November 20, 2024.
The upgrade involves a critical 18-kilometre stretch between Chauri Chaura, Gauri Bazar, and Baitalpur, covering key areas within the Gorakhpur Cantt.-Bhatni corridor. The move is part of the ongoing efforts by Indian Railways to modernise its signalling infrastructure, ensuring smoother and more reliable train operations. Automatic signalling is expected to enhance train movement by improving safety protocols, reducing human intervention, and increasing the overall capacity of the railway line. These upgrades are crucial in accommodating the growing demand for rail services in the region, which plays a pivotal role in connecting key cities and facilitating the movement of passengers and freight. While the maintenance work will temporarily disrupt services, it is expected to bring long-term benefits in terms of improved travel times, enhanced safety, and a more efficient railway network. The Northern Railway has advised passengers to stay updated on train schedules and potential changes in routes or timings during this period. Railway officials have assured the public that efforts are being made to minimise inconvenience, with alternative arrangements in place for affected services.
