Residents of Noida and Greater Noida are voicing their frustration over the deteriorating state of the city’s road infrastructure. After recent rainfall and incomplete repair works, many roads have become treacherous for commuters. In Sector 26, a road that was excavated for sewer repairs has been left in a poor state, with no follow-up work completed. Similarly, in sectors 119 and 122, residents are contending with extensive potholes that pose significant hazards to vehicles and pedestrians alike. In Greater Noida’s Sector 37, a service road has been effectively transformed into a makeshift pond due to persistent potholes that fill with rainwater.
Sector 26, which has long been a point of contention for local residents, is particularly affected. The stretch near Apollo Hospital has been suffering from severe disrepair for nearly two months, following incomplete sewer work. Local resident complaints highlight the ongoing issues, with the road frequently inundated with sludge and deep potholes after rain. The half-hearted efforts of contractors hired by the Noida Authority are said to be contributing to the problem, exacerbating the difficulties faced by commuters.
In Greater Noida, similar issues are reported, with residents of Sector 37 experiencing chronic problems due to damaged water pipelines causing sewer overflows. This has led to the service road becoming impassable during rains, creating significant inconvenience. The metro depot station road to the Omaxe roundabout has also fallen into disrepair, with multiple broken sections worsening the commute for many. Despite numerous complaints and appeals for action, both Noida and Greater Noida authorities have yet to address these issues adequately. It is anticipated that road repairs will only commence after the end of the monsoon season, leaving residents to navigate the poorly maintained roads for the time being.
the current state of roads in Noida and Greater Noida underscores a pressing need for timely maintenance and efficient repair work. The combination of rain damage and incomplete repairs has left many roads in a state of disrepair, significantly impacting daily commutes and overall safety. The authorities’ delay in addressing these issues further exacerbates the challenges faced by residents, highlighting the urgent need for improved infrastructure management and responsive governance.
