Noida Metro To Extend Aqua Line With 8 New Stations

Noida’s metro network is set to be significantly enhanced with the proposed 11.56 km extension of the Aqua Line from Botanical Garden station to Sector 142. The corridor, featuring eight new elevated stations, is designed to simplify commutes between Delhi, Noida, and Greater Noida, and is awaiting final clearance from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs T.

The route—spanning from Botanical Garden through sectors 44, 97, 105, 108, 93, and Panchsheel Balak Inter College before terminating at Sector 142—is budgeted at ₹2,254.35 crore. NMRC officials indicate that construction is slated to begin within three months, pending approval, potentially benefiting approximately 80,000 daily commuters on launch. A key advantage of the corridor is the seamless integration at Botanical Garden, which already serves as an interchange point between Delhi Metro’s Blue and Magenta Lines. This extension will eliminate the cumbersome transfer between Sector 51 and Sector 52 metro stations currently required to move between Noida and Delhi Metro systems.

NMRC began preparatory surveys—including topographical and soil assessments—along the route in early 2025. These technical evaluations are nearing completion, and once central funding is confirmed, infrastructure rollout is expected shortly thereafter. Beyond direct commuter convenience, the corridor is part of a larger strategy to enhance public transportation’s role in sustainable urban development. Officials expect the extension will stimulate real estate growth, reduce road congestion, and support transit-oriented development in Greater Noida and its vicinity. The corridor’s multimodal potential—connecting to Magenta Line services towards Indira Gandhi International Airport and Blue Line rail nodes—adds to its regional significance.

The corridor also aligns with broader infrastructure plans. NMRC is simultaneously forwarding a 5 km extension from Sector 51 to Knowledge Park‑V and has secured central approval for a shorter link from Sector 51 to Boraki, enhancing access to the upcoming Noida airport hub at Boraki. As preparations move ahead, NMRC leadership reaffirmed that integrated ticketing, signage, and station design will prioritise rider comfort and accessibility. The corridor’s development is thus representative not only of infrastructural expansion but also of Noida’s shift toward more eco-friendly, equitable transit systems.

If completed on schedule, the Botanical Garden–Sector 142 corridor could become a model of inter-network synergy, scalable transit planning, and sustainable urban mobility across the National Capital Region.
