Noida Key Roads Project Resumes After Court Clears Encroachment Dispute

Noida’s long-delayed road connecting key city sectors is finally set for completion as authorities prepare to clear illegal encroachments from the final 200-metre stretch. Years of litigation and unauthorised structures had halted the project, but with the Supreme Court now dismissing a pending petition, groundwork can resume. The road will ease traffic between Sectors 46, 47, 99, and 98, promising shorter commutes and relief from chronic congestion in surrounding junctions.

The stalled road project in Noida’s Hajipur village, intended to link Sectors 46, 47, and 99 directly with Sector 98, is finally moving forward after over two decades of legal deadlock. While most of the route was completed, a 200-metre segment remained obstructed by illegal shops, concrete structures, and informal dwellings. The original land acquisition, notified in 2001–2002, was challenged in court in 2003, stalling development for years. The dispute passed through multiple courts before the Supreme Court dismissed the final petition in 2024, affirming the authority’s rights over the disputed land. With legal clearance now verified by the law department, officials have confirmed that encroachments will be removed with police assistance to allow construction to resume. Once complete, the road will drastically reduce commuting distance and time between several residential and commercial zones. It also aligns with Noida’s long-term infrastructure planning and traffic decongestion goals.

Currently, commuters from Sectors 46, 47, and 99 must take circuitous routes through Sectors 100, 101, and Hajipur to reach Sector 98—resulting in frequent traffic bottlenecks, especially during peak hours. Residents have long demanded completion of the planned shortcut, which promises to ease pressure on overloaded intersections. Authorities said the road was always part of Noida’s master planning for inter-sector connectivity, but encroachments and court proceedings caused prolonged delays. Now, the final clearance allows the Noida Authority to prioritise demolition and construction. Officials added that the removal process will be conducted under administrative supervision to avoid disruption and ensure compliance with legal protocols. Once operational, the new stretch is expected to streamline east-west traffic movement across a major part of the city. It is also likely to enhance public transport accessibility and improve emergency response routes for residents living across the impacted sectors.

The resolution of Noida’s long-pending road dispute marks a critical step in unblocking city infrastructure. With the final court ruling in place, and encroachments slated for removal, the long-awaited road segment is finally on track for completion. This development not only promises smoother connectivity for commuters across multiple sectors but also reflects the need for proactive land conflict resolution in urban development. Once completed, the road is expected to significantly reduce congestion, improve sector access, and offer a vital mobility boost for one of Noida’s most densely populated zones.
