Noida Implements 15 Day Traffic Advisory For Kanwar Yatra Ensuring Pilgrim And Commuter Safety

The Noida Police have issued a comprehensive 15-day traffic advisory, implementing restrictions and diversions from July 11 to July 25, to ensure the smooth movement and safety of pilgrims during the Kanwar Yatra. This proactive measure aims to manage urban mobility effectively while accommodating the religious procession, thereby maintaining city order and minimizing inconvenience for residents and commuters during this period.

Officials confirmed that the traffic restrictions will be effective from 10:00 PM on July 11 until July 25. During this period, Kanwar pilgrims are scheduled to travel through Ghaziabad to reach destinations like Bulandshahr, Hapur, and Moradabad via Gautam Buddha Nagar. The pilgrim route within Noida is approximately four kilometres, with entry from Mayur Vihar and exit at Kalindi Kunj, passing through the Shani Temple and Okhla Bird Sanctuary.

In preparation, various departments, including power, health, and the Noida authority, held meetings with officials and event organisers. Instructions were given to repair and maintain cleanliness along the pilgrimage route, emphasizing the commitment to public health and equitable access to well-maintained urban spaces for all. To manage vehicular flow, goods carriers of all sizes will be diverted. Heavy, medium, and light commercial vehicles heading towards Delhi and Haryana will be re-routed to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

Movement of goods carriers on city roads, including the Elevated Road, DND Flyway, and Kalindi Kunj, will be restricted. Furthermore, vehicular movement from Chilla Red Light to Okhla Bird Sanctuary via the Shani Temple will be entirely prohibited to facilitate pilgrim movement. Officials noted that one lane will be exclusively dedicated to Kanwariyas, while another will accommodate light vehicular movement. This segregation is designed to prevent congestion and ensure the safety of both pilgrims and regular commuters.

Traffic restrictions are also in place across several key highways and intercity routes connecting Delhi, Uttarakhand, and various western Uttar Pradesh districts. The comprehensive traffic management plan underscores the necessary balance between supporting large public events and maintaining urban functionality for sustainable and equitable city living.
