In a determined effort to reclaim illegally occupied government land, the Noida Authority launched a major demolition drive on Thursday, successfully freeing land valued at ₹3.5 crore from the grip of the real estate mafia. The latest operation is part of an ongoing series of actions against unauthorised constructions across Noida, aimed at curbing the rampant land encroachment that has plagued the region.
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Work Circle-3, the Noida Authority executed a demolition of illegal structures in Sector 42. The targeted land, originally designated for residential development, had been unlawfully taken over by local land mafias who had constructed shops covering approximately 1,000 square metres. These shops were set up with the intention of being sold to unsuspecting buyers, representing a significant violation of property regulations. Despite prior notices issued by the Noida Authority, the illegal occupiers did not dismantle the unauthorised constructions, necessitating a forceful response. On Thursday morning, the authority, with the support of two JCB machines, a workforce of 50 personnel, and assistance from the Noida police, carried out the demolition drive. The operation was executed smoothly, with police forces effectively managing potential resistance from the onlookers and preventing any form of disruption.
This latest action is part of a broader campaign by the Noida Authority to eliminate illegal encroachments across the city. In recent months, the authority has reclaimed nearly 6 lakh square metres of land valued at approximately ₹2,000 crore, demonstrating a firm commitment to restoring government property and upholding the rule of law. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Noida Authority has reiterated the body’s zero-tolerance policy towards encroachment by the land mafia, emphasising that all illegal structures will be systematically demolished. The CEO has also issued a public advisory, urging potential investors to thoroughly verify property documents with the authority before making any purchases, particularly in high-risk zones where encroachments have been prevalent.
Data provided by the Noida Authority indicates that the most significant encroachments have been observed in Sorkha, Zahidabad, and Salarpur villages, situated in Sectors 76, 78, 79, and 118. Here, six separate operations have been conducted to reclaim land worth ₹195 crore. Additionally, significant removals have occurred in Salarpur Khadar village and Sector 78, where encroachments on 15,000 square metres of land, valued at ₹72 crore, have been cleared. The sustained efforts by the Noida Authority reflect a strategic and methodical approach to combating illegal property occupation. By continuously targeting and dismantling unauthorised constructions, the authority aims to deter future violations and protect public land from illicit acquisition. Moving forward, the Noida Authority’s proactive stance is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping a more regulated and law-abiding real estate environment in the region.
