The Noida Authority has intensified its crackdown on illegal constructions across five villages—Basai, Bhangel, Salarpur, Barolla, and Gadhi Chaukhandi.
Approximately 20 buildings, erected without requisite approvals on notified land, have been marked with red paint bearing the word ‘illegal,’ and official notices have been affixed to warn current residents and prospective buyers. In a significant reclamation effort, approximately 10,000 square meters of land, estimated to be worth ₹30 crore, have been recovered by the authority. Demolition drives were conducted in Barolla, Salarpur, and Hajipur, resulting in the removal of several under-construction houses and shops that violated land use regulations.
Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M has instructed officials from Circles 1, 2, and 3 to conduct comprehensive surveys to identify unauthorized constructions across the city. The CEO stated that the aim of the surveys is to pinpoint encroachers and hold them accountable. He emphasized that those found guilty would be classified as land grabbers and would face strict legal action. The authority has also issued warnings to the public, advising against dealing with middlemen when purchasing land and stressing that development on notified land will only be permitted under official guidelines. Additionally, the authority has urged potential buyers to verify land ownership and construction permissions to avoid falling prey to illegal transactions.
This crackdown is part of Noida’s broader land management strategy, which includes the allocation of 66,867 square meters for industrial use, 300,000 square meters for institutional projects, and over 1,000,000 square meters for commercial use. Officials have been directed to take stringent action against those involved in illegal constructions as the authority continues its efforts to regulate land use and prevent further encroachments. By reclaiming valuable land and issuing strict warnings against unauthorized developments, the authority aims to facilitate orderly urban development while dissuading potential land grabbers. With plans to expand its landbank for industrial, institutional, and commercial purposes, Noida is strategically positioning itself to accommodate future growth while ensuring adherence to land use regulations.
