NMRC Launches Survey for Botanical Garden Metro

The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has initiated a crucial survey for the development of a new metro line connecting Noida Sector-142 to Sector-38A Botanical Garden.

This 11.56 km corridor is poised to strengthen urban mobility between Noida and Greater Noida, offering seamless transit options for thousands of commuters daily. The new metro route aims to fill existing connectivity gaps, linking key residential and commercial hubs with enhanced efficiency. The detailed project report (DPR) for the line has already been submitted to the central government for approval. Once sanctioned, the project will move forward, with construction anticipated to begin shortly thereafter. The proposed metro extension will feature eight stations, strategically positioned to serve densely populated areas and commercial districts. The estimated cost for the entire project stands at Rs 2,254 crore, reflecting the scale of investment required to elevate Noida’s public transportation infrastructure.

Officials involved in the project have emphasised that the new line will significantly improve commuter convenience, reduce traffic congestion, and support sustainable urban development. By providing direct metro access from Greater Noida to Botanical Garden, the route will facilitate faster and more eco-friendly travel, reducing dependency on private vehicles and promoting cleaner air quality. As part of the preparatory phase, NMRC has commenced a comprehensive topographical survey. This will assess critical factors such as pillar heights, road widths, drainage systems, and the presence of existing structures along the proposed route. The survey, expected to take two months, will provide vital data to inform the final alignment and design of the metro line.

The topographical study is not merely a routine procedure; it is an essential step to ensure the project’s structural integrity and environmental sustainability. Modern survey techniques are being employed to capture precise measurements, particularly given that the original layout has undergone several modifications since its initial assessment. Experts highlight that the new metro corridor will not only improve transit efficiency but also contribute to Noida’s broader sustainability goals. The incorporation of energy-efficient technologies, green infrastructure, and eco-friendly construction practices aligns with the city’s commitment to achieving zero net carbon emissions. Moreover, the development of this metro line is expected to stimulate economic growth along its corridor. Increased connectivity will attract investments, boost real estate development, and create employment opportunities in the region. The improved public transport system will also reduce traffic congestion, leading to a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions and promoting healthier urban living conditions.

Officials from NMRC have assured that the project will be executed with minimal environmental impact. The survey results will guide decisions regarding land acquisition, construction methods, and integration with existing metro infrastructure to ensure a seamless transit network. The approval and subsequent development of this metro line reflect a progressive approach towards urban planning, addressing the evolving mobility needs of Noida’s growing population. The project embodies the principles of equitable, sustainable, and inclusive city development, offering a model for future metro expansions across India.

As the survey progresses, stakeholders remain optimistic about the transformative potential of this new metro corridor. It represents a significant step towards making Noida and Greater Noida more connected, environmentally friendly, and resilient urban spaces
