Nishatpura to Host Vande Bharat Operations Hub

Bhopal is set to become a pivotal centre for the maintenance and training of Vande Bharat trains, with the establishment of a ₹150 crore facility at the Nishatpura Rail Coach Factory.

This development underscores India’s commitment to modernising its railway infrastructure and enhancing operational efficiency. The facility will serve as a comprehensive hub for the upkeep of Vande Bharat trains, with the capacity to maintain up to 10 units. Equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and simulation systems, the centre aims to provide hands-on training experiences for railway personnel. Training modules will encompass various aspects of train operations, including technical operations, safety protocols, signal systems, telecommunications, engineering, and traffic management.

Scheduled to commence operations next year, the centre will feature modern amenities such as a hostel, canteen, administrative building, library, computer centre, auditorium, and medical room. These facilities are designed to support the intensive training programmes planned for railway staff, including loco pilots, guards, and station managers.

The establishment of this maintenance and training hub aligns with Indian Railways’ broader vision to modernise its infrastructure and build indigenous expertise in managing advanced train systems. By centralising maintenance and training operations, the facility aims to improve service reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance the overall efficiency of Vande Bharat train services. This initiative also reflects a strategic move to decentralise training operations, which have traditionally been concentrated in locations like Bhusawal and Udaipur. The new centre in Bhopal will provide more accessible training opportunities for railway personnel across the region, contributing to the professional development of staff and ensuring high standards of service delivery.

As the facility nears completion, it is expected to play a crucial role in the ongoing efforts to modernise India’s railway sector, fostering a skilled workforce capable of operating and maintaining the next generation of high-speed trains. The investment in infrastructure and personnel training signifies a forward-looking approach to sustainable and efficient rail transport in the country.
