The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has unveiled an ambitious plan to construct 27 new roads in the state of Kerala, involving a total project cost of INR 70,114 crore. These projects will cover a substantial distance of 960.27 km, encompassing the development of greenfield highways, along with the ongoing work on NH-66.
One significant aspect of this development is that the Central government will provide full financial backing for the construction of roads on newly acquired lands. Under the broader Bharatmala project, Kerala will witness the creation of 15 roads spanning 838.89 km, with an estimated expenditure of INR 66,627.11 crore. Additionally, there are plans to construct 12 roads that will connect different ports, carrying a projected cost of INR 3,486.51 crore.
This development aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing the road infrastructure across the country. The investment in these road projects not only promises improved connectivity within Kerala but also reflects the broader goal of fostering economic growth.
The project is set to transform the state’s transportation landscape, making it more accessible and efficient for both people and goods. The construction of these roads is poised to bring about significant improvements in connectivity, thereby facilitating economic activities within Kerala.
