NHAI Approves Kherki Daula Toll Relocation

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved the relocation of the Kherki Daula toll plaza on National Highway 48 (NH-48) to Panchgaon, situated beyond Manesar. This move, expected to be completed within the next six months, is poised to bring substantial relief to daily commuters and residents of New Gurugram.

The decision to shift the toll plaza has been welcomed by thousands of office-goers and daily travelers who have long faced bottlenecks at the Kherki Daula toll point. The new location at Panchgaon, approximately 15 kilometers beyond the current site, is strategically positioned at the interchange of NH-48 and the Western Peripheral Expressway. This placement is anticipated to streamline traffic flow and reduce congestion on one of the busiest national highways connecting Delhi and Jaipur. To further enhance the efficiency of toll collection and minimize delays, the NHAI plans to implement a Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) system at the Panchgaon toll plaza.

This advanced technology utilizes overhead cameras to capture vehicle registration numbers and automatically deduct toll charges via FASTag wallets, allowing vehicles to pass through without stopping. The Haryana government has allocated 28 acres of land in Panchgaon for the development of this state-of-the-art tolling infrastructure .The relocation of the toll plaza is expected to have a positive impact on the real estate market in New Gurugram. Areas such as Dwarka Expressway and Southern Peripheral Road, which have witnessed significant residential and commercial development in recent years, are likely to see increased demand. Improved connectivity and reduced travel times are anticipated to make these regions more attractive to homebuyers and investors alike.

Industry experts believe that the enhanced accessibility will stimulate the development of supporting infrastructure, including retail, educational, and healthcare facilities, further establishing New Gurugram as a premier destination for urban living and real estate development. The decision to relocate the Kherki Daula toll plaza comes after years of public demand and multiple delays. Previous attempts to shift the toll point faced obstacles, including land acquisition issues and environmental concerns. However, with the recent approval and the allocation of land by the Haryana government, the project is now set to move forward .

Residents and commuters have expressed optimism about the upcoming changes. Many anticipate smoother travel experiences and reduced travel times, which are expected to enhance the overall quality of life in the region. As the project progresses, authorities have assured the public that efforts will be made to minimize disruptions during the transition period. The successful implementation of the Panchgaon toll plaza is expected to set a precedent for future infrastructure developments aimed at improving urban mobility and commuter satisfaction.
