Negligent Infrastructure Woman Dies from Electric Shock in Pune

Pune: A tragic incident occurred near Amar Tech Park in Balewadi, resulting in the untimely death of a 45-year-old woman, Chandrakala Narsinha Mirdude. The fatal accident was caused by an electric shock from a broken cable of a dislocated electric pole, highlighting significant safety oversights in infrastructure maintenance.

According to reports, the deceased woman, a resident of Bhairavnath Temple area in Balewadi, was walking towards a bus stop when she inadvertently came in contact with an exposed electric cable connected to the dislocated pole. The electric current flowing through the cable resulted in a massive shock, leading to her demise.

The incident has sparked outrage and raised questions about the negligence surrounding the maintenance of electric infrastructure. Despite the known risks associated with exposed cables, authorities failed to ensure proper safety measures, resulting in a tragic loss of life.

An FIR has been filed at Chaturshringi police station based on a complaint lodged by the woman’s son, invoking Section 304 (a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the unidentified individuals responsible for the incident. Police investigations are underway to identify and hold the accountable parties liable for the negligence that led to the woman’s death. It has been revealed that the electric cable was cut and left exposed in an open space, disregarding the potential hazards posed by the live current passing through it. The incident underscores the urgent need for stricter enforcement of safety protocols and regular maintenance checks to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Authorities have initiated a probe into the matter to ascertain the circumstances leading to the dislocation of the electric pole and determine accountability for the lapse in safety measures. While initial investigations suggest the electric pole was removed for Metro project work, further inquiry is required to establish culpability and prevent such incidents from recurring.

The tragic death of Chandrakala Narsinha Mirdude serves as a sobering reminder of the critical importance of prioritizing safety and adherence to regulations in infrastructure management to safeguard public welfare and prevent avoidable accidents.
