NBCC Secures Rs 368.75 Crore in Key Infrastructure Projects, Boosting Development in Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Roorkee

the state-owned National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) has secured a total of Rs 368.75 crore in work orders, further solidifying its position in India’s rapidly growing infrastructure sector. These new contracts include the development of a commercial complex in Varanasi, a multi-storey dormitory at AIIMS Gorakhpur, and a state-of-the-art data science and AI school at IIT Roorkee. With these significant projects, NBCC is set to contribute not only to the country’s urban development but also to enhancing educational and healthcare infrastructure.

NBCC’s latest wins include a landmark project in Varanasi—a Rs 300 crore contract for the development of the Jawaharlal Nehru Commercial Complex (JLNCC) in Englishya Lines. This project is especially noteworthy because it is being developed on a self-sustainable model, reflecting a growing trend in infrastructure development that aims to combine commercial viability with environmental and operational sustainability. The Varanasi Development Authority has entrusted NBCC with the responsibility to create a space that will not only support commercial growth but will also contribute to the overall development of the city.

Varanasi, one of the most culturally and historically significant cities in India, stands to gain greatly from this project. The commercial complex will serve as a modern hub for business activities and will potentially boost the local economy by attracting both domestic and international investments. This development is also in line with the Indian government’s broader vision of making cities like Varanasi more accessible and economically dynamic, while maintaining their unique heritage. In addition to Varanasi, NBCC has also secured a Rs 44.37 crore contract from Power Grid Corporation to construct a 500-bed multi-storey “Vishram Sadan” at AIIMS Gorakhpur. The facility, which will offer much-needed accommodation for patients’ families, underscores NBCC’s commitment to supporting the healthcare sector. With more people seeking medical care in large cities, healthcare facilities that cater to their relatives’ needs are critical in improving the patient experience and easing pressure on medical institutions.

The third notable project comes from IIT Roorkee, where NBCC has bagged a Rs 24.38 crore order for constructing the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. This building will include various advanced facilities such as firefighting systems, lifts, CCTV systems, and a Building Management System (BMS). As India moves towards being a global leader in technology and innovation, educational institutions like IIT Roorkee are key to driving the country’s future success. This project will provide the next generation of students with a state-of-the-art facility to advance in the fields of artificial intelligence and data science.

The completion of these projects will have a far-reaching impact on the public, enhancing accessibility, sustainability, and functionality. The commercial complex in Varanasi will contribute to the city’s modernisation while providing a boost to the local economy. The Vishram Sadan at AIIMS Gorakhpur will improve the overall healthcare experience, particularly for patients’ families who often face challenges in finding accommodations near major hospitals. The new educational facility at IIT Roorkee will foster innovation and create opportunities for the next generation of tech professionals. For the public, the benefits are clear: these projects will improve urban infrastructure, boost employment opportunities, enhance educational access, and improve healthcare support. In this way, NBCC is not just building structures; it is contributing to a sustainable and progressive India.

With the success of these projects, NBCC continues to demonstrate its expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure projects. The diverse nature of the work, from commercial development to healthcare and education, reflects the company’s ability to meet the varied needs of India’s rapidly growing population. As these projects move forward, they are expected to play a vital role in the socio-economic development of the regions they serve.
