Navi Mumbai Airport to Open in June, Official Confirms
Navi Mumbai International Airport is set to be inaugurated in June, as confirmed by an official. The airport, which was initially planned to open in April, has been rescheduled for a later launch. This new airport will be the second major airport in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. It is being developed to reduce congestion at Mumbai’s primary airport and manage the growing number of passengers.
The project is being built under a partnership between a private company and a government agency. The airport is expected to cost around Rs 16,700 crore. Once completed, it will have two runways and four terminals, with the capacity to handle 90 million passengers every year.
An official recently visited the construction site and shared updates about its progress. He stated that the airport would greatly improve connectivity and economic growth in the region. The development team has been praised for their efforts in making this large-scale project a reality. Earlier plans suggested that domestic flights would begin operations in May, followed by international flights in July.
However, with the new inauguration date, flight operations may also see minor changes. This airport is expected to boost trade, tourism, and employment opportunities in Navi Mumbai and nearby areas. With state-of-the-art facilities, it aims to provide a world-class travel experience for passengers.
As construction nears completion, authorities are ensuring that all necessary safety checks and final preparations are carried out before the grand opening. The launch of Navi Mumbai International Airport is seen as a major milestone in India’s aviation sector.
