Navi Mumbai Airport Launches Domestic Flights in March, International Services in April

In a major milestone for the region’s aviation infrastructure, the Navi Mumbai Airport is gearing up to begin domestic flight operations in March 2025, with international flights slated to follow in April. The commencement of these flights is expected to help alleviate the mounting pressure on the already congested Mumbai International Airport, offering passengers a more convenient and accessible alternative for travel.

The announcement comes after a successful flight test conducted on December 29, 2024, when an IndiGo A320 passenger aircraft made a successful landing at runway 26/08 of the new airport. This test flight is a key step toward obtaining the necessary aerodrome license to kickstart commercial operations at the airport. Following the successful test, the IndiGo aircraft received a ceremonial water cannon salute, a traditional gesture to mark the occasion. This further solidified the airport’s readiness to handle passenger flights and welcomed it as a new addition to the region’s transport network.

With the operational launch scheduled for March, Navi Mumbai Airport aims to cater to the increasing passenger traffic in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The introduction of domestic and international flights will significantly ease congestion at the existing Mumbai International Airport, which has been facing growing challenges due to rising travel demand. The Navi Mumbai Airport, strategically located to serve the bustling metropolis and its surrounding areas, promises to become a key hub for both domestic and international air travel, improving connectivity and offering passengers more flight options.
