Mumbai’s BEST Transforms Route 37 to A-37 Electric Bus for Sustainable Commutes
In a significant step towards promoting sustainable public transport, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has upgraded its General Bus Route No. 37 to Electric Air-conditioned Bus Route A-37. The new service began on January 28, 2025, providing a cleaner, greener, and more comfortable commuting experience.
The A-37 route continues to connect Kurla Railway Station (W) to J. Mehta Marg (Nepean Sea Road), covering 64 stops along the way. While the route remains unchanged, the shift to electric air-conditioned buses ensures reduced emissions and improved air quality, aligning with Mumbai’s sustainability goals. BEST announced the update via its official social media platforms, emphasising the environmental and commuter benefits of this transition. Passengers can now enjoy a smoother, quieter, and air-conditioned ride, enhancing their overall travel experience.
This move is part of BEST’s broader initiative to electrify its fleet, addressing the challenges of climate change and urban air pollution. By adopting electric buses, BEST is setting a benchmark for eco-friendly public transportation in India’s financial capital. Regular commuters have expressed enthusiasm about the transition. “It’s refreshing to see BEST focus on both sustainability and commuter comfort. The air-conditioned buses make a huge difference, especially during peak hours,” said a daily rider. BEST’s efforts to modernise public transport signal a progressive step forward. With increasing reliance on eco-friendly alternatives, Mumbaikars can look forward to an efficient and sustainable commuting future.
