Mumbai Welcomes 2025 with Special Suburban Trains
Mumbai is gearing up for grand celebrations to ring in the New Year, with the city’s iconic landmarks, including Marine Drive, set to draw massive crowds as revelers gather to welcome 2025. To cater to the increased demand for transportation during this time, the Central Railway and Western Railway have announced special suburban train services for the night of December 31, 2024, and the early hours of January 1, 2025.
Both railway networks are ensuring that passengers can travel conveniently across the city by operating late-night trains. Western Railway will run eight special trains — four up and four down trains — between Churchgate and Virar. Likewise, Central Railway will offer four special trains, including one pair between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kalyan, and another pair between CSMT and Panvel. The special services aim to provide a seamless and safe travel experience for Mumbaikars and tourists celebrating the New Year, ensuring they can return home without hassle after late-night festivities. The trains will stop at every station along their routes, ensuring maximum convenience for passengers.
Passengers are encouraged to check the schedule in advance and plan their journeys to avoid any inconvenience. In addition, authorities have reminded the public to maintain discipline and adhere to safety guidelines while traveling on these special trains.

Churchgate to Virar:
- Churchgate Departures: 1:15 AM, 2:00 AM, 2:30 AM, 3:25 AM
- Virar Arrivals: 2:55 AM, 3:40 AM, 4:10 AM, 5:05 AM
Virar to Churchgate:
- Virar Departures: 12:15 AM, 12:45 AM, 1:40 AM, 3:05 AM
- Churchgate Arrivals: 1:52 AM, 2:22 AM, 3:17 AM, 4:41 AM
