Mumbai Weather Update Rain and High Tides Expected

Mumbai: Mumbai is set to experience light to moderate rainfall today, with the city’s maximum temperature anticipated to reach 31 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to hover around 25 degrees Celsius.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also issued warnings regarding tidal conditions, forecasting high tides of approximately 4.35 metres at 1:25 PM and 3.87 metres at 1:22 AM. Additionally, a low tide of around 1.37 metres is expected at 7:27 PM today. Over the past 24 hours, Mumbai has witnessed varied rainfall across its regions, with the island city recording 6 mm, eastern Mumbai 11 mm, and western Mumbai 7 mm. These figures reflect the ongoing impact of the monsoon season, which has led to significant weather fluctuations across the metropolis.

In response to recent flooding incidents in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde conducted an inspection of the affected areas on Monday. The Chief Minister visited flood-stricken zones including Sangavi in Pimpri Chinchwad and Patil Estate, Shivajinagar, and Ekta Nagar in Pune.

During his visit, Shinde addressed local residents in Shivajinagar, stating, “While the administration is implementing immediate measures to aid those affected by the floods, we are also committed to developing long-term strategies to address the issue of recurring flooding. We ask for the public’s cooperation in working with local authorities.” The situation in Ekta Nagar, which lies along the Mutha River, has been particularly severe due to water discharge from the Khadakwasla Dam following heavy rains in its catchment areas.

Army personnel, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and civic officials have been deployed to manage the flooding. Chief Minister Shinde has directed all relevant authorities to remain vigilant in light of ongoing water discharge from Khadakwasla, Mulshi, Pavana, and other dams in the Pune region. He emphasised the importance of relocating residents from high-risk areas to safer locations with the support of the NDRF, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the Army if necessary.
