Mumbai To Phuket Daily Direct Flights Launching From September 20 2025

Mumbai will soon have a direct air connection to Phuket as a leading Indian carrier expands its international footprint into Southeast Asia, strengthening travel, trade, and tourism ties between India and Thailand. The airline will commence daily non-stop services between Mumbai and Phuket from 20 September 2025, marking Phuket as its sixth overseas destination.

The carrier, which began operations in August 2022, currently serves 23 domestic and five international destinations, including Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait City. With a fleet strength of 30 aircraft, the airline has been steadily building its network to connect key economic hubs and emerging tourist destinations.According to industry officials, this new route aligns with the airline’s broader strategy to expand across the SAARC and ASEAN regions over the next few years. The expansion is expected to benefit from upcoming infrastructure developments such as the Navi Mumbai and Noida International Airports, both of which are poised to become major aviation gateways for India.

Phuket’s inclusion in the network reflects the growing demand for direct connectivity between Indian metros and popular Southeast Asian leisure markets. The island destination has consistently ranked among the most visited spots for Indian travellers, driven by its beaches, cultural experiences, and favourable visa policies.Aviation analysts believe this development could also boost bilateral economic engagement. Direct flights not only stimulate tourism but also facilitate business travel, enabling faster access for investors, entrepreneurs, and trade delegations between the two regions.Officials from the aviation sector point out that increasing direct connectivity to Southeast Asia can help diversify India’s outbound travel portfolio, which has long been dominated by destinations in West Asia and Europe. In addition, expanding air links to ASEAN countries could play a role in India’s Act East policy, aimed at strengthening economic and strategic cooperation with its eastern neighbours.

The move comes amid a post-pandemic rebound in air travel, with airlines focusing on underserved international sectors that show high growth potential. Sustainable aviation strategies, including newer fuel-efficient aircraft and optimised flight schedules, are being prioritised to ensure that expansion aligns with environmental goals.Industry experts add that such connectivity also opens up possibilities for joint tourism campaigns, cultural exchange initiatives, and collaborative trade fairs between India and Thailand. With the addition of Mumbai–Phuket services, travellers can expect reduced travel times, more competitive fares, and enhanced choices, reinforcing Mumbai’s position as a major hub for international travel.
