Mumbai PRS Maintenance on Feb 8-9 Key Services Affected
In a critical announcement for Mumbai railway passengers, the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) will undergo scheduled maintenance from 11:45 PM on February 8 to 3:15 AM on February 9, 2025. The maintenance work, aimed at disk defragmentation, is necessary to enhance the performance and reliability of the system.
During this maintenance window, several essential services will be temporarily unavailable, including the PRS itself, coaching refund services, charting activities, Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS), and current reservation services. Additionally, passengers will not be able to access chart display touch-screen kiosks or coaching refund terminals. Internet bookings for Mumbai PRS trains will also be halted during this period. However, for those who need to process refunds, the railway system will still accept Ticket Deposit Receipts (TDRs) as per the existing refund policies, ensuring that passengers can claim refunds as usual, albeit without immediate access to other reservation features.
The railway administration has urged passengers to plan their travel and bookings accordingly, as the maintenance work is essential for the continued efficiency of the Passenger Reservation System. Travelers are advised to complete their bookings or make alternate arrangements ahead of the downtime, ensuring their plans are not disrupted by the scheduled service interruptions. This maintenance is a routine procedure aimed at improving the overall functionality of the PRS, which is crucial for the smooth operation of booking and reservation services across Mumbai’s extensive railway network. The railway administration appreciates the cooperation of passengers during this brief but necessary disruption.
