Mumbai-Nashik Highway Gets Pothole Fix

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced the adoption of advanced Leo Polymer Technology for road repairs. This cutting-edge technology, known for its durability and resilience, is set to transform the condition of the highway, promising long-term relief for commuters.

During a recent inspection of the Thane-Nashik stretch, including areas from Kharegaon to Padgha and Talvali to Shahapur, Chief Minister Shinde personally evaluated the current state of the road. His visit aimed to identify the root causes of traffic congestion and assess the progress of ongoing pothole repairs. The Chief Minister noted that the road’s condition, exacerbated by heavy vehicle traffic and stone debris, has been causing significant delays, making the journey longer than usual.

In response, Shinde has directed a comprehensive approach involving multiple agencies, including the Public Works Department, Maharashtra State Road Development Authority, MMRDA, and local police. The plan includes regulating heavy vehicle traffic and ensuring these vehicles are parked in designated areas to alleviate congestion. Specific instructions have also been issued to the Collectors, Police Commissioners, and Superintendents of Police in Raigad, Thane, and Palghar to coordinate traffic management efforts effectively.

Leo Polymer Technology, developed by SMC Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., has been chosen for its robust performance in filling potholes. This innovative solution incorporates fibre, making it suitable for heavy vehicle traffic and ensuring the longevity of repairs. The technology is currently being deployed to address large patches along the Thane-Nashik corridor, with a focus on making the road safer and more reliable for all users.

Chief Minister Shinde emphasised the importance of completing these repairs swiftly and efficiently, instructing that any obstructions to the work be met with appropriate action. The use of this new technology is expected to extend to other infrastructure projects, including bridges at Jindal, Washind, and Asangaon railway, as well as on Bhiwandi and Mankoli routes. Additionally, a new bridge at Khadvali Phata is planned to further alleviate traffic congestion.

The Chief Minister’s initiative underscores a commitment to improving road infrastructure and ensuring smoother, more dependable travel across this crucial route. With a focus on leveraging modern technologies and coordinated efforts, the project aims to deliver significant benefits to the region’s commuters and overall transport efficiency.
