Mumbai Local Trains To Face Mega Block On 26 October 2025

Mumbai’s suburban railway network will witness significant service disruptions on Sunday, 26 October 2025, as Central Railway, Mumbai Division, undertakes essential engineering and maintenance works. The mega block, crucial for the upkeep and safety of railway infrastructure, will affect both the Main Line and Trans-Harbour Line services, compelling commuters to adjust travel plans. Officials have requested passengers’ cooperation during this maintenance exercise.

On the Main Line, the Matunga–Mulund UP and DOWN fast lines will be unavailable from 11:05 am to 3:45 pm. During this period, DOWN fast line trains departing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) from 10:36 am to 3:10 pm will be diverted onto the DOWN slow line at Matunga station. These trains will halt according to their scheduled stops between Matunga and Mulund and are expected to arrive at their destinations approximately 15 minutes late. Similarly, UP fast line trains leaving Thane between 11:03 am and 4:38 pm will be diverted to the UP slow line at Mulund, following scheduled halts and returning to the UP fast line at Matunga. Officials have emphasised that these diversions are necessary to allow uninterrupted maintenance work while keeping suburban services operational to the extent possible.

The Trans-Harbour Line, connecting Thane with Vashi and Nerul, will face temporary suspension of all UP and DOWN services from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm. Trains from Vashi, Nerul, and Panvel heading to Thane, as well as services from Thane towards these stations, will be cancelled during the block period. Officials explained that the block is essential to maintain tracks, signalling, and other vital infrastructure that ensures commuter safety. Railway authorities have urged passengers to plan their journeys in advance, allowing for delays and cancellations. Alternative travel arrangements, earlier departures, or temporary adjustments to work schedules are recommended for commuters relying on these routes. Central Railway reiterated that such mega blocks, while inconvenient, are critical to ensure the long-term reliability and safety of suburban train operations in Mumbai.

Maintenance operations of this scale, spanning multiple hours and affecting major suburban corridors, highlight the ongoing efforts of the Mumbai Division to sustain a safe, eco-friendly, and resilient urban transport network. Commuters are encouraged to stay updated via official Indian Railways portals, apps, and station notices for real-time train timings and alerts.
