Mumbai is strengthening its urban mobility ecosystem with the introduction of dedicated feeder bus services for Metro Line 3, aimed at enhancing first and last-mile connectivity for commuters. The initiative, launched jointly by the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) and app-based operator Cityflo, seeks to integrate metro travel with key business and residential hubs, ensuring seamless, tech-enabled public transport.
The newly launched service covers major stations, including Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), Worli, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), linking metro passengers to commercial and residential clusters. From BKC, commuters can access NSE, Jio Garden, One BKC, and the Family Court. Worli routes connect Century Mills, One Indiabulls Centre, Kamala Mills, and Peninsula Corporate Park, while the CSMT feeder links Old Custom House, Lions Gate, S.P. Mukherjee Chowk, K.C. College, and Churchgate Metro station. Buses operate at ten-minute intervals during peak hours, offering fares starting at ₹29, with a monthly pass priced at ₹499. Ticketing has been integrated with both the Cityflo and MetroConnect3 mobile applications, providing commuters with convenient cashless travel options and real-time bus tracking.
According to an MMRC official, reliable first and last-mile connectivity is essential to boosting metro ridership and improving the overall commuter experience. “The Cityflo feeder service ensures that convenience extends right up to commuters’ doorsteps,” the official said, highlighting the project’s role in promoting sustainable urban transport. Experts from Cityflo emphasised that the service aligns with Mumbai’s broader mobility strategy, encouraging the adoption of shared and eco-friendly transit solutions. The initiative is expected to reduce reliance on private vehicles, lower traffic congestion, and contribute to the city’s carbon neutrality goals. The project also reflects a growing trend towards technology-driven urban transport, with app-based ticketing and route optimisation enhancing operational efficiency.
