Despite the official withdrawal of the southwest monsoon on October 10, Mumbai has experienced unseasonal thunderstorms since Tuesday evening. Automatic weather stations operated by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recorded the heaviest rainfall in Dharavi at 19 mm, followed by 16 mm in Pratiksha Nagar, 15 mm in Chembur, 11 mm in Powai, and 10 mm in Dadar and Goregaon between 6 pm and 7 pm on Tuesday. Meteorological experts explain that post-monsoon showers are typical in coastal cities like Mumbai due to residual moisture and cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea.
