Mumbai CSMT Train Delayed After Machine Mishap

A floor-cleaning machine accidentally fell onto a railway track at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai on Tuesday morning, briefly disrupting local train services.

The incident occurred around 11:33 am, just as a suburban train was arriving at the platform, a Central Railway official confirmed. According to initial reports, a contractual cleaning staff member lost control of the machine, causing it to topple onto the track. Fortunately, no injuries or damage to the train were reported. Railway security personnel, assisted by commuters, swiftly removed the equipment from the track, allowing services to resume within minutes.

“The train was detained for about five minutes due to the incident. The situation was immediately brought under control, and services normalised soon after,” said a Central Railway spokesperson. The disruption was minor and did not lead to any significant delays in the overall suburban train schedule.

The incident highlights the importance of strict safety protocols for contractual staff operating machinery in high-traffic railway zones.
