Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has continued its upward trajectory, recording substantial growth in both passenger and cargo traffic during the first half of the 2024-25 financial year (April to September 2024). The airport welcomed a total of 27 million passengers during this period, marking a significant increase compared to the previous year. International passenger traffic saw a remarkable 11% surge, with 7.4 million international travelers choosing CSMIA as their gateway to India.
Domestic passenger traffic also experienced a positive trend, with a 3% increase, totaling 19.2 million passengers. CSMIA’s cargo operations also witnessed robust growth, handling 447,435 metric tons of cargo, a 13% increase over the same period last year. This growth can be attributed to the addition of new airline partners such as Challenge Air, Vietnam Airlines, and SF Airlines, which has expanded the airport’s global connectivity. The strong performance of CSMIA reflects the growing importance of Mumbai as a major aviation hub in India.
